Welcome to the Cursillo Web Page

Hello,
My name is Norman Wiegers and I attended Cursillo in 1996 on the 18th Men’s weekend, where I sat at the table of St. Matthew. I am the newly appointed Lay Director, taking over the position from our outgoing Lay Director, Sherryll Murphy.

We are living in what I feel most of us would call the strangest times of our lives, and yet I feel closer to God because of this. I, like many, have lived in lockdowns and ever-changing rules in our society over the past 2 years, not always sure what was allowed and at times feeling like a tiny boat lost at sea. When these feelings close in and threaten to highjack me away from what is truly important in life, I picture a Rembrandt painting titled Christ in the Storm on the Sea of Galilee. This painting shows Christ being a rock solid and calming force while his disciples struggle in the storm’s upheaval.  This is as true today as it was when it was created. Our strength always comes from the Lord, and even when we do not always see or feel the Lord’s presence, it is there calming the storms of our world and protecting us from what is wrong and would lead us astray.

I ask that you pray for our Secretariat as we plan for the upcoming 2023 spring weekend and our way forward from these “strange times”

Norman
